The Workshop

This 1.5 day workshop will examine multi-scale techniques for multi-physics problems and their related robust numerical methods. In particular problems with disparate temporal scales in the range of picoseconds up to those of milliseconds, such as those related to general enzyme kinetics, in bio-medical applications. On the other hand problems with disparate spatial scale in alloy microstructures in casting industry, micro- and nano-sized products in manufacturing industry, multi-scale edage determination and enhancement in image processing, and multi-scale inverse problems.

Thursday 07/06/2012: Plenary talks by three keynote speakers, contributed talks by PhD research students and junior post-docs.
Friday 08/06/2012: Short project presentations and a panel discussion on future trends and directions related to multi-scale and multi-physics industrial problems.

Call for Papers and Participation

Abstract deadline: 04/05/2012. One page of abstract in .doc file or latex file + its pdf to be sent as an attachmemnt of an email to Prof. C.-H. Lai. In the subject of the email please type either 'Contributed Talk' or 'Short Project Presentation'.

Notification of acceptance: 11/05/2012.

Registration: On or before 18/05/2012.

Journal publication: Papers presented at the workshop will be invited to submit to Journal of Algorithms and Computational Technology for review and publication.

Fee

There is a small charge of £25 per person to cover various organisational work and lunches on Thursday and Friday.  Participants who wish to arrive on Wednesday evening 06/06/2012 may wish to contact local hotels directly to book accommodation.
